SEKISHU WASHI NEXT GENERATION introduces Sekishu Washi with demo Japanese papermaking.

Paper craftsmen of Sekishu can’t come to the Netherlands.
But for them Yuriko Miyoshi, Japanese printmaker and papermaker will introduce Sekishu Washi, a traditional handmade paper registered as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, via movies and a simple demonstration how the traditional Japanese handmade paper is made.

You can touch the lamp ‘Kamigami’ made from a special Sekishu Washi. It is the first finished product of Jonas Althaus who is a Netherlands based designer, collaborating with the paper craftsmen of Sekishu, Sekishu washi Next Generation.

Japanese artist Chika Ito helps the table of Hanga Land on 6 November. Her specialty is printmaking, bookmaking and ink making.

Dr. Ad Stijnman will be at the table of Hanga Land on 7 November. He can tell you about the test done by him and report of printing on fifteen different kinds of Sekishu Washi from the Sekishu handmade paper sample.

It is possible to buy the Sekishu handmade paper sample at the table of Hanga Land. We have some Washi which is suitable for digital print, too.
