I’d like to find out whether anyone might be interested in this Deberny & Peignot proofing press, Press No. 425, No. T 229 R.

Deberny & Peignot foundry plate, 8 rue Ferrus, Paris 14th arrondissement.

I found it in the barn of a house I renovated in the Sarthe region of France. It doesn’t appear to have been moved for several years.

Motorized cylinder press with automatic inking. Cast-iron bed and rack, cylinder carriage with its casing, roller train, electric geared motor driven by chain.

Manufacturer’s specifications (from the period leaflet, “Jésus” format):

I haven’t measured the machine myself yet; these figures are taken from the original catalogue.

Condition: generalized surface rust. The machine has never been electrically tested. One lever is broken, but the broken part has been kept with the machine. I’m not a printer or typographer, so I don’t know whether anything is missing or not, nor what condition the rollers are in.

Collection only, in the Sarthe region of France. The press is currently in a barn with a dirt floor. The doorway is 3.60 m high × 2.45 m wide. Appropriate lifting and handling equipment will be required.
