Rollen voor de FAG Standard!

Well, you haven’t seen it until you’ve seen it.
The FAG Standard models had 2 gears and a clutch on each roller. Similar to the Vandercook No. 4 these presses have the inking rollers on a frame… And then each roller has a clutch that is activated by a pin that is in the roller core. This disengages the gear when it is in the «home» position and driven by the electric ink drum and reengages the gear when it is cranked to the front. Not such an unusal principle in the from 1935 until the 1950s. Both of these presse models are still quite often in use in Europe and the USA.

On test presses I have never seen ink rollers with gears on both rollers. I may be mistaken, but aren’t these likely to jam while printing? On the FAG in our workshop, the rear roller has a gear, but the front one does not. Could it be that this set is composed of different sets?
Op testpersen zag ik nog nooit inktrollen met tandwielen op beide rollen. Ik kan me vergissen, maar is de kans niet groot dat deze vastlopen tijdens het drukken? Op de FAG in onze werkplaats heeft de achterste rol een tandwiel, maar de voorste niet. Zou het kunnen dat deze set samengesteld is uit verschillende sets?
